COVID Funding for Ports
The CARES Act provided millions of dollars to support public infrastructure, which included city-owned seaports, however there was no funding relief for unaffiliated, public agency ports. Working with a small coalition of similarly-situated ports, we led an effort to support bill language and outreach strategies with House leadership, Members of Congress and governors that resulted in enactment of a new provision in the American Rescue Plan to provide funds via a state’s Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery allocation. Our port client has now received in excess of $100 million through this new program.
